Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway shines in 100-lap Border Battle, Wight Wins over Sheppard and Johnson

PLATTSBURGH, NY - July 1, 2019 - Lightning Larry Wight took advantage of a restart at the halfway point to drive by Matt Sheppard while riding the cushion on the extreme outside line of the half-mile race track. Wight and the Gypsum Racing team went home $10,000 richer and now have a guaranteed starting position in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVIII in October at Oswego Speedway. Runner-up Matt Sheppard drove to the front early, passing both Mat Williamson and then leader Brett Hearn in one fell swoop. Sheppard had built a massive half-track lead but after the bottom line went away for him he lost speed. Defending Champion Matt Sheppard takes home $7,500, joined by Larry Wight and Mat Williamson on the podium

CORNWALL, ON - June 30, 2019 - Matt Sheppard battled up through the top-five to take the lead early in the race but had to go toe-to-toe with The Doctor Danny Johnson to secure the win. Larry Wight crossed the finish line in second place, which is an important points-finish for the Gypsum Express driver. With another third place podium, Mat Williamson didn't let Sheppard run away with all the points. Friesen pockets $11,111 and much needed guaranteed start for NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVIII

MALTA, NY - June 25, 2019 - Brett Hearn's The Big Show 11 lived up to its name and surpassed all expectations. In a 111-lap race that few will soon forget, five-time NAPA Super DIRT Week Champion Stewart Friesen passed race promotor and eight-time Series Champion Brett Hearn on lap 110 to steal the win in dramatic fashion. In third place, Mat Williamson and his Buzzchew Racing team were catching the dueling leaders but had to settle for the final step on the podium when the checkered flag fell. Erick Rudolph led flag-to-flag to win again at Weedsport Speedway

WEEDSPORT, NY – May 27, 2019 – Despite leading all 100 laps of the Heroes Remembered 100, fans were left amazed at the incredible race they had just witnessed. Rudolph fought back challenges from some of the best Super DIRTcar Series drivers to ever get behind the wheel of a Big Block Modified. Billy Decker, Stewart Friesen, and Max McLaughlin took turns trying to ground the high-flying Ransomville racer, but all efforts fell short. With a final lunge, Decker crossed the finish line under the checkered flag alongside the No. 25r, but was unable to complete the pass before the stripe.

Stewart Friesen Takes $5,000 DIRTcar Nationals Finale, Wight Wins Gator Championship

Seven-Time Champion Matt Sheppard Passes Two Cars in One Corner for Round Two Win at the DIRTcar Nationals

BARBERVILLE, FL - February 14, 2019 – There was love for dirt racing in the air at Volusia Speedway Park this Valentine's Day, as a tremendous crowd watched three super-powered heroes battle it out for the top spot of the Super DIRTcar Series 30-lap Feature podium. Super Matt Sheppard, from Watertown, NY, triumphed over Mr. Freeze Stewart Friesen, and Batman Peter Britten. Sheppard made a late two-for-one pass in turn two for his first win of 2019 with a new car, a new set up, and a new engine. The 30-lap thriller featured multiple lead changes, with four different leaders including the top three and Jessey Mueller who fell back to finish sixth.

Billy Decker Christens his Return to Gypsum Racing with a Win, Edges Out Teammate Larry Wight

BARBERVILLE, FL – February 13, 2019 – It took just one race for Billy Decker to return to his winning ways in the famous red No. 91 Gypsum Express Big-Block Modified, there was nothing easy about it on Wednesday night in DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park. Not only did Decker, of Unadilla, NY, hold off teammate and reigning NAPA Super DIRT Week Champion Larry Wight, but he was forced to out-muscle legendary Billy Pauch to come away with the checkered flag. Wight and Pauch ran side-by-side for nearly half the race while trying to run down Decker.

Tim Fuller Stuns the 2018 Super DIRTcar Series Champion Matt Sheppard with Late Race Pass for Win

CONCORD, NC – November 3, 2018 - Tim Fuller of Watertown, NY won the battle and Matt Sheppard won the war. With just a handful of laps the 2018 Mohawk International Speedway Champion tracked Sheppard down and made the pass for the World of Outlaws World Finals Presented by Cam-Am 40-lap Feature win. Matt Sheppard crossed the finish line second as the newly crowned 2018 Super DIRTcar Series Champion. The Franklinville Flyer Billy Decker was a threat at the front of the field, but had to settle for third. That rounds out the final chapter in the 2018 Super DIRTcar Series season.
