Matt Sheppard ready to “throw caution to the wind” this year at Charlotte

Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series competitors head to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the season finale during World of Outlaws World Finals

CONCORD, N.C. – November 3, 2013 – Three-time defending Super DIRTcar Series Champion Matt Sheppard is ready to throw caution to the wind this year at Charlotte. The Big-Block Modified series rounds out its season Thursday, Nov. 7, through Saturday, Nov. 9, during the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C.

“This year, the pressure is off,” said Sheppard, who last year became the first driver to garner three consecutive Super DIRTcar Series titles, yet has not claimed victory at Charlotte. “We won’t have to worry about points or anything, so hopefully this will be the year we can just go down there and run hard and get that first win.”

Brett Hearn hoping for repeat at Orange County Fair Speedway’s Eastern States 200

Defending event champion charging into historic race with Super DIRTcar Series point lead

MIDDLETOWN, N. Y. - Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 - Brett Hearn didn't just win at Eastern States Weekend last year, he took a clean sweep at the historic Orange County Fair Speedway event, charging to victory in both the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified Eastern States 200 and 358-Modified feature races.

This year, Hearn has the Super DIRTcar Series point advantage going into one of the biggest events of the year, and is ready to defend his position at the track he still considers his "home track." The Super DIRTcar Series Eastern States 200 feature takes over Orange County Fair Speedway Sunday, Oct. 27, after completing time trials and heat races Friday, Oct. 25.

"Last year was unbelievable," said Hearn, who hails from nearby Sussex, N. J., just a short drive from "The Hard Clay" of Orange County Fair Speedway. "Coming off the Syracuse win, and then to go to Eastern States and set fast time in both divisions, and then win both races - it doesn't get any better than that. I can't imagine that it's going to be easy to duplicate that."

Stars & Stripes returns to action tonight at Rolling Wheels Raceway

Four starting spots up for grabs in Tuesday’s DIRTcar Sportsman Modified race

WEEDSPORT, N. Y. - October 4, 2013 - The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds join the Super DIRTcar Series Tuesday, Oct. 8, for a special NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII kickoff race night. Four starting spots are still available in the 30-lap DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature, with a 10-lap qualifying heat running Tuesday to set the rest of the field.

Both divisions were originally scheduled to run Sunday, Sept. 1, for the Labor Day Classic Stars & Stripes 100, but inclement weather postponed the feature races. The Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series completed 24 laps before conditions caused officials to red-flag the race. Billy Decker and Dale Planck will start in the front row Tuesday to complete the remainder of the 100-lapper.

The DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature race never hit the track by the time the postponement was announced. Competitors in that division will start and finish all 30 laps Tuesday, with four spots still open in the 24-car field. Any team desiring to enter the event must draw for positions in a 10-lap heat race. The top-four in the qualifying race will transfer to the remaining spots in the feature.

Previously qualified positions in the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature event must be maintained by the original driver because the feature race has not yet started.

Super DIRTcar Series returns to Rolling Wheels for Labor Day Classic Stars & Stripes 100

Big Blocks, Big Night: 800-plus horsepower Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series take on "The Fast Track"

ELBRIDGE, N. Y. - The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series circles back to Central New York for its second event of the season at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. The stakes are higher for the Sunday, Sept. 1, Labor Day Classic Stars & Stripes 100, awarding Big-Block Modified drivers based on a 150-point schedule.

After winning at Michigan's I-96 Speedway, Brett Hearn currently leads in series point standings going into "Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A." at Lebanon Valley Speedway Thursday, August 15. However, three-time defending series champion Matt Sheppard lags by just three points, and his strength at Elbridge's famed 5/8-mile oval is evidenced by his two wins at Rolling Wheels last season.

The Labor Day Classic, which also features a full show for DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and DIRTcar Stock Cars, is the last race of the season at Rolling Wheels before the World of Outlaws Late Model Series andWorld of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series take over for two NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week Specials in October.

"This late-summer classic is the last chance for fans to experience Central New York's premier motorsports venue before NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week," said Jeff Hachman, Rolling Wheels Raceway Park General Manager. "WIth the Big-Block Modifieds returning to 'The Fast Track,' we're looking again forward to bringing fans unparalleled racing and entertainment."
