Born: July 25, 1971
2005: A charter member of the inaugural band of ‘Elite 11’ drivers, engine woes curtailed his travel plans midway through the summer and forced him to remain closer to home for weekend competition. Settled for 13th in the overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRT Championship, logging four top-10 finishes in 16 Advance Auto Parts SDS starts with his only front-five finish (4th) scored at Hagerstown. All three of his big-block feature wins came in the first three months at Canandaigua (NY) Speedway en route to 5th-place on the final points chart.
Career: A stunning final lap victory in DIRT NorthEast’s prized jewel Eckerd 200 in 2002 brought instant notoriety to Coffey who earned DIRT Rookie of the Year accolades in 1996 after posting 11 feature wins in two years of Sportsman racing. A teammate of World of Outlaws Late Model standout Tim McCreadie, Coffey has tallied 16 big-block victories and nine in the 358-Modified division with a total of five posted in Modified and 358-Mod Super DIRT Series competition.
