2009 Season Review: A solid Top-10 contender during the new millennium and front-runner on the Central New York DIRTcar circuit over the past three decades, the 2000 overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Big-Block champion salvaged 15th position with four Top-5s scored in 12 of the 20 events entered. Scaling back on his touring program while continuing to concentrate on activity closer to home at Canandaigua (NY) Speedway in '09, the ‘Hurricane’ posted two of his front-five feature finishes at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park beginning on Labor Day, with the Waterloo warrior taking five checkered flags in heat race qualifiers and leading 36 circuits in the Canandaigua 100-lapper staged last August.

DIRTcar Racing Record: Also a two-time overall Hoosier-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified champion, Paine joins Brett Hearn and the Brothers Johnson, Alan & Danny, as the only drivers to capture DIRTcar Racing Northeast's most coveted titles in both Big-Block and Small-Block divisions, ranking among the top-10 in tour victories with 27 Big-Block Modified (7th) and 27 358-Modified (4th) DIRTcar Series checkered flags. Along with collecting 28 track championships ---19 BB, 9 SB--- he has scored 272 (176 BB, 96 SB) open-wheel wins since graduating from the Late Model ranks in 1982, establishing an all-time DIRTcar Northeast record of nine straight point titles at Canandaigua (NY) Speedway from 2000-08.

Fun Facts: Started 24th and won his first ever race in his first ever start as an 18 year-old Street Stock rookie at Canandaigua Speedway in 1979; ultimately taking a dozen more checkered flags in full-fender competition at the ‘Land of Legends’ and reaching double-digits at sister track Cayuga County Fair Speedway. After adding an “x” to the family no. “7” in his return to racing in 1980, Paine captured a 100-lap New York State Late Model Championship and the number carried over to his 1983 rookie Modified campaign on the DIRT of Central New York circuit.
