Highlights
Alan Johnson
Hometown: Phelps, N.Y.
Born: Oct. 3, 1957
2005: Upon the dismissal of Vic Coffey, DIRT MotorSports’ all-time big-block Modified winner made his inaugural start among the ‘Elite 11’ in August steering the CRC Community Rental-Tri State Roofing/TEO entry numbered Ten owned by Robbie and Randy Sherlock. He logged his lone Advance Auto Parts SDS victory in dominating fashion at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway before finishing 11th on the final Mr. DIRT points chart with nine top-10 feature finishes. The ‘05 Brewerton (NY) Speedway points champion scored a dozen feature wins during his 33rd year of open-wheel racing.
Career: A three-time overall Hoosier-Sunoco Mr. DIRT Modified champion, ‘A.J. Slideways’ is DIRT NorthEast’s career big-block win leader (329) and the only driver to register a big-block Modified win every year since DIRT’s inception in 1976. With an open-wheel career punctuated by consistency, Johnson’s smooth driving style has garnered him a group-high total of 25 big-block track point titles and a half-dozen more in the small-block ranks. His major race resume includes two Eckerd 200 Super DIRT Week Championships and an OCFS Eastern States 200 victory among his 39 Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series triumphs. The reigning Mr. DIRT 358-Modified champion has also earned four overall small-block point crowns and six 358 track titles while 46 of his 111 DIRT small-block wins have come in Super DIRT Series competition.
